N95 8GB Tip: Quickly Upload & Share an Image

8 05 2008

While posting on the Jaikommando Missions thread on Jaiku.com I needed to post a link to a picture I’d taken on my N95 8GB, so it started me thinking what’s the easiest & quickest way to get an image online and share the URL of that image with everyone?

NOTE: I have Nokia Share Online 3.0 installed on my N95 8GB, with Flickr setup.

Well this is what I did:-
1. Take picture uisng camera function.
2. With the picture displayed onscreen, click the ‘Send’ icon (little envelope) and select ‘Post to web’, then select which service you wish to send to, add any title/comments/tags you want and send.
PS: If you setup your flickr service as the default in Share Online you can simply click the ‘world with an arrow’ icon and it automatically send to flickr.
3. With your image uploaded to flickr, now open up Share Online and view your recent photos (you may need to update to see the image just uploaded). Select the picture you want, click the ‘Send link’ icon (Envelope with link below it) and select either via text or email. You should now see the link url displayed like this http://m.flickr.com/photo.gne?id=2473937560
4. Simply highlight the url, copy & paste to where ever you want (use the PEN key and move right to select text, then PEN and LEFT/RIGHT key to COPY/PASTE).

NOTE: If you don’t want the mobile link http://m.flickr.com/photo.gne?id=2473937560 simply replace the m. with www. i.e. http://www.flickr.com/photo.gne?id=2473937560

I use Shozu combined with autpostr to post it to twitter. You could use any uploading system to Flickr but Share Online 3.0 isn’t working yet on my n95 8GB. Autopostr just posts any image from flickr with some preconfigured tag to twitter.
