Nokia 5800 XM – Firmware v30.0.011/v30.2.011 Is Here – UPDATED

27 07 2009

The news many 5800 fans have been waiting for is that the v30.2.11 firmware is now available for 6 product codes, none of them Euro or UK ones, but you might be one of the lucky few. The product codes are :-

0581748: Israel Black
0581747: APAC2-AU Black
0561619: Brazil BLACK
0561618: LTA BLACK
0574994: NA BLACK
0581746: Thailand Black

These are on NSU for sure, not sure about OTA yet, we’ll keep you updated!

UPDATE – Would seem V30.2.11 is available to a lot of codes OTA including some UK ones. Generally our v30 5800 has more free RAM, is speedier and has home screen notifications for email (using the default Messaging App, rather than Nokia Messaging).

I tried to download via OTA and it said no available update.
I am from Argentina. Im not sure if the cell company may have blocked updates.

If somebody can say me how to upgrade it in another way i will appreciate.

Hey

Thanks for your quick reply.

I’ve updated to that product code now.. but it still says i am up to date.. tried both OTA and nokia software update.

Weird 🙂

DO i need to restart the phone in order for the product code to take affect?

Ben

Yeah same here Ben, I’m also on 0558982 (Euro 1 RED).

I am on v21.0.101, not sure if this is causing a problem with the update as I temporarily switched to a Hong Kong product code to get that version.

hmm i am on the same v21.0.101 as you Chris and even after changing to 0558982 I cant get the update either OTA or via NSU.

Very frustrating!

For those who cannot update their phone after changing product code,, you should reinstall first your old firmware through NSU then after that you can now update your phone to the latest firm through FOTA,,

Hi,
The problem for those of us with a Hong Kong product code on v21.0.101 is that we are stuck on this version. If I try updating via NSU on the HK product code it says no update available. If I change to say Euro1 then it attempts to ‘upgrade’ to 21.0.25 but then gives an internal error. So it seems there is no way to get out of this firmware dead-end.

Is there another safe way to force install a specific version? The only other option is to wait for Nokia to update it’s records to allow the HK product code to upgrade to v30.

the way I managed was to change to the euro code, then re-install the current firmware by NSU. Then checked the over the air update from my 5800. All of a sudden, the update had appeared.

Installed and up and running now.

i just purchase 5800 and i dont know how to find my product key code(i’m ignorant about this) how can i update my firmware via OTA? please help… thanks!!

You product code is usually on the label under the battery bvelow the IMEI number or you can use NSS via a PC to check. To update OTA from the homescreen type *#0000# and you’ll see your phone details, just click Option and Check for Updates. If there is an update available for your Product Code it will tell you and ask if you want to install. Alternatively you can connect via a PC and use Nokia’s NSU to check for updates and if no update is still not available for your Product Code, then change the Prodcut Code using NSS (fully details on how to do can be found on http://threeuk.wordpress.com)

Hi,
I finally managed to upgrade from v21.0.101 to 30.0.11. Since 21.0.101 is only available on Hong Kong product codes and these product codes do not permit an upgrade it is not possible to upgrade OTA or using NSU even if you change your product code.

I managed to upgrade by changing my product code to Euro1 RED, then I reflashed using Phoenix.

v30.0.11 is much faster than 21.0.101

Cheers,
Chris.

Firmware is here.

http://www.dotsis.com/mobile_phone/archive/index.php/t-171668.html

I used Phoenix from a file named Phoenix_2008_44_5.zip which can be found by googling.

I simply installed Phoenix and the firmware executable on Windows XP Home.
Next I connected via USB, connected the phone via USB, set up a USB connection in Phoenix, then selected Update Firmware. The settings were populated with my product code and the new firmware version. I then hit Refurbish and the update completed in about 5 mins.

Note that these steps are taken from memory, please google for exact instructions on using Phoenix.

Chris.

is it true that there are problems with the v.30 update?? ive red from nokia website that owners of 5800 they got a lot of problems after updating to v.30…
-problem in calls
-problem in turning the phone on,,keeps on restarting several times when turning on.
-lights on screen blinking once in and awhile
-messaging problem
-gps connecting problem
-music player crash down after a minute
-and so many more,,,
p.s. i think 20 of 5800xm users are more likely having the same problem…

is it still advisable to update to V.30?
is there any safer way how to install applications/games that are sign and unsigned without hacking the fone?

Thanks

Do you mean when the OTA update has been downloaded, its not allowing you to install it?

If so, I’ve never seen that! OTA updates have been fine with both my 5800XM’s. As suggested try contacting your service provider or Nokia Care?

Have you tried updating via the PC and Nokia Software Updater?

Hi folks,

I got my 5800 here in Brazil sponsored by TIM The firmware version they have available is 20.0.012. I´m experiencing some halts and freezing on many situations… The NSU does not allow me to upgrade due some stupid regional settings or model number. Do you know where can I find the last 5800 firmware version available without using the NSU? Is ther a site that I can donwload and install bypassing this stupid limitation?

Thanks in advance!

Ricardo: You may wish to look at my post over on THE MOTH blog for changing your Product Code on the 5800XM. What Product Code you use may vary, search Google for it.

PS: I know the blog post is instructions for the E71, but its just the same for the 5800XM and I also have the NSS file on that site in the box.net sidebar

Follow the instructions over on themoth.wordpress.com to change ur product code.

Changing the product code voids ur warranty, so always change ur product code back once u’ve updated.

RED & BLUE just means the 5800XM colour, only difference is themes
